Three in the morning on Commerce Street, sodium light, an empty lot going white — that is one half of EAQ Landscape Contracting's year, snow and ice management on properties that have to open at seven no matter what the sky did overnight. The other half is built in daylight: paver driveways, poolscapes and pool renovations, outdoor living and waterfront living, restoration work on the residential side. On the commercial side the vocabulary widens into landscape and masonry installation, hydroseeding and erosion controls, mulch blowing, turf and athletic field installation, wetlands creation, invasive plant removal and remediation, green roofs. Glastonbury sits where the Route 2 corridor drops toward the river plain, and both kinds of work — the built and the grown — pass through it on the way out. Schools, universities and municipalities get their own list, down to playground mulch and plant bed mulch, with irrigation and water management, fertilization and design running under all of it.
