About Fairfield County Plows

A Fairfield snowstorm usually comes in off Long Island Sound wet and heavy, and the hours that matter run from about two in the morning until the town wakes up. Fairfield County Plows works that window, clearing driveways and walkways so a car can back out onto Congress Street and make the Merritt before the commute sets in. Up on the Osborn Hill grades the pitch does half the arguing, and a driveway pushed wide and early is the difference between a normal Tuesday and a stranded one. It is straightforward winter work: plow, clear, come back when the plow truck berms the apron shut again. The pride is in the timing, in headlights swinging into a yard while the storm is still falling and leaving black pavement behind.
