First light comes up over the tobacco fields east of Ellington, and the mowers are already down off the trailer, laying the first clean stripe of the day. Earth Management Solutions works this rolling farm country under Shenipsit Lake and the Tolland hills — weekly mowing, spring and fall cleanups, aeration and overseeding, plantings and landscape installation, mulch and stone, shrub trimming and pruning, paver patios, walkways, garden retaining walls, irrigation installed and repaired, and brush hogging or clearing where a field is quietly trying to become woods again. When winter settles into the valley, the same crews turn to commercial plowing, sidewalk snow removal, and salt and ice management, so a lot lies open and swept long before the first headlights swing in. They cover Ellington, South Windsor, Vernon, and the surrounding towns of Tolland and Hartford County. There is a plain, physical satisfaction in what it leaves behind: the crisp edge along a walk, pavers set true to the low evening sun, a yard that holds its season.
