A property that gets looked after gives something back every day of the year — a walk to the mailbox that feels easy underfoot, a patio that keeps you outside past dusk, a driveway open and waiting before the coffee has finished brewing. Scully Land Design & Masonry does that work out of East Haddam, where the Connecticut River bends past the swing bridge and old fieldstone walls wander off into hemlock ravines toward Devil's Hopyard. They design and maintain landscapes, set stone for driveways, walkways, patios and staircases, tend trees and gardens, build dry wells, and run a garden center stocked with stone, mulch and topsoil for delivery across southeastern Connecticut. Come January the work turns to snow and ice, clearing the same ground that was shaped in June. What lasts is the edge held crisp, the joint that sits true, the slope that sheds its water instead of arguing with it — a place put right, and staying that way.
