Snow Removal Man

About Snow Removal Man

A Danbury squall can come racing across Lake Kenosia in the late afternoon, swallowing the low winter sun and burying the walks before anyone is home from work. Snow Removal Man works that short blue stretch between the storm and suppertime. What people notice when they pull in is simple and welcome: the driveway scraped bare, the walkway shoveled square to the door, the porch steps swept so the light falls on stone instead of drift. The name doesn't dress anything up, and neither does the work — snow off the places people walk and park, with nothing left behind to freeze into ruts overnight. Out past the frozen lake the hills go violet as evening comes on, and the house sits ready for the night.
