Four in the morning, plow lights swinging up a driveway, salt going down on the front walk before anybody in the house is awake — that is one entire season of this business. Walmsley's Lawn and Tree LLC plows residential driveways and commercial parking lots, shovels walkways, paths and entryways clear, and lays treated salt to stop ice before it sets. The warmer months run to mowing and edging on a weekly, bi-weekly, event or vacation schedule, weeding and live edging of beds, seasonal planting and sculpted hedges, garden bed design and installation, irrigation, landscape renovations and spring and fall cleanups — plus the tree side, which is removal, precision pruning, stump grinding, cabling and bracing, tree planting, lot clearing, storm cleanup and emergency calls at any hour of the night. They also load and deliver mulch in several colors, aged spruce, red hemlock, black and natural cedar, along with wood chips, compost, topsoil, stone and firewood. Between Canterbury and the Willimantic Road country to the west, that covers most of what a property can ask for in a year.
