Alliance Fence

About Alliance Fence

Drive Route 169 through Brooklyn in January and the land reads as lines: stone walls stitched across old pasture, hedgerows gone bare, a fence running the whole length of a hayfield with the light coming in flat and low. Alliance Fence puts up those lines — vinyl fence, aluminium fence, wood fence, chain link, commercial chain link, enclosures, wood guard rail. A fence is a decision made visible, where the yard ends and the field begins, and setting posts true in this stony Quiet Corner ground takes a patience the finished run never shows. Winter turns the work sideways to snow plowing, drives and lots in Brooklyn opened up while the fields around them stay untouched and blue. Both jobs come down to the same thing: an edge, held.
