Black Rock lives with two weathers. In February the storm comes across the harbor sideways and the driveways up from the seawall walk disappear by midnight, so Cesar's Lawn Maintenance and Masonry is out ahead of the alarm clocks, plowing the aprons wide and shoveling the walks down to bare pavement so nobody's morning becomes a negotiation. In July the same streets ask for the other kind of attention — mowing on a rhythm, trimming to the hedge line, edging where the lawn meets the drive. Ash Creek turns silver at low tide and the yards along it hold their color deep into October. Two seasons, one habit: leave it better than you found it.
