Late summer loosens its grip on the Branford shoreline, the air off the Sound goes clean and sharp, and the work turns with it — the long green weeks of lawn maintenance and irrigation giving way to the slower, heavier art of stone. Shorehaven Landscape builds outdoor rooms into this coast of trap-rock ridge, tidal marsh and pink Stony Creek granite: landscape design and installation, hardscaping, patios set where the ground already seemed to want one, artificial turf, outdoor lighting to carry a walk home after dusk, and dumpster rental and cleanout for the rubble a renovation leaves behind. There is a plain, physical satisfaction in the finished line — a patio joint tight enough to read as a single surface, a bed edge crisp against the grass, a garden that settles in until it looks like it simply grew there. The crews work Branford and out along the shoreline through Guilford, Madison and Clinton, then inland to North Branford, Northford, New Haven and East Haven, leaving yards that hold their shape and stone that will still be sitting true long after the leaves come down.
