About Demar's Landscaping

The work keeps its own time: the low idle of a mower walking a straight line down toward the water, the tamp of a hand setting one more piece of stone until the course sits level and stays. DeMar's Landscaping works the Connecticut Shoreline and Greater New Haven out of Branford, where salt air comes up off the Sound past the marsh grass and the trap-rock ridges hold the last of the light. They design and install landscapes, keep them through the growing months for homes and commercial properties, lay hardscape, put in lawn irrigation, and plow commercial lots when winter takes the shoreline. There is a particular pleasure in the result — a bed edged clean against the turf, a patio that reads like it grew out of the granite this town is made of, a drive opened wide and dark before the first car of the morning. A yard that carries its season well is not an accident; it is somebody's hands, over and over, until the place looks like itself.
