Bozrah is farm country that never quite got paved over — stone walls running off into the trees, the Yantic threading its way toward Norwich, Gardner Lake catching the last orange light at the north end of town. On a June evening the mowers are still going, and B-Man's Landscaping LLC is out finishing a lawn while the swallows work the field next door. The pleasure of it is in the geometry: straight lines laid down across an open yard, edges trimmed clean where grass meets gravel, everything squared up before dusk. A well-kept lawn in a town this rural reads as a kind of welcome, and that is what gets handed back at the end of a visit. Bozrah and the towns around it — Salem, Franklin, Lebanon, Norwich, Colchester — are all within easy reach.
