About City Services

Bloomfield sits under the traprock ridge, and in winter the wind comes down off Penwood carrying whatever the storm still has left in it. City Services plows through that — driveways and commercial lots, walks and entryways cleared, salt and sand down on the ice that forms where the shade never leaves. The open ground of the old tobacco land drifts over quickly, so a lot that was clean at midnight can need another pass by four in the morning. The aim never changes: people arrive, walk in, and never once think about the snow. That is Bloomfield in January, and it is the whole job.
