Bethel runs on two calendars, the green one and the white one, and CT Lawn & Landscape, Inc. keeps both. Spring through fall it is mowing, trimming, edging, mulch, hedge work and the cleanups that bracket the growing season; December onward it is plowing driveways and lots, clearing walks, and salting the ice that sets up in the shade of the old hat-shop streets. The terrain does its part — short steep drives up toward Codfish Hill, flat commercial aprons down by the rail line, each one asking for a different approach. There is pride in both halves: a lawn edged sharp along a walk in June, a lot scraped to bare pavement before the first car arrives in January. Bethel and its neighbors get the same attention in either weather.
