About B. Hiltz Construction

Berlin sits at the geographic center of Connecticut, with Lamentation Mountain's traprock ridge standing over the east side of town like a dark wall in January. Storms hang up on that ridge and drop their load right here, which is why B. Hiltz Construction runs its plow routes through Kensington and the neighborhoods below it while most of the town is still asleep. Driveways get opened first, then widened once the snow quits; walks and steps are cleared down to the surface by hand and treated so the refreeze that follows a sunny afternoon doesn't turn them to glass. Commercial lots get pushed back to their corners so there's still room to park after the third storm of the month. Nothing beats the look of a finished drive at daybreak — clean pavement, square banks, a car that can simply back out and go.
