East of Windsor the section roads run straight out into beet ground and sky, and come February the wind lifts loose snow off the fields and lays it back down across every driveway it can find. Silverline Landscape & Excavation runs against that: plowing drives and parking areas, pushing back the ridge the county plow leaves at the end of a lane, blowing out walks, stacking piles where they will not blind a driver backing out. A ground blizzard needs no new snow to close a road, so the phone stays live long after the storm's name has left the forecast. Some mornings the sun comes up on twenty miles of white with one dark, clean lot in the middle of it. Nothing complicated about that — just the willingness to be out in it, and to come back when the wind refills the lane.
