On a clear afternoon the whole western horizon shows itself from Windsor — Longs Peak, the Mummy Range, blue and serrated above the fields. When that horizon disappears, snow is usually an hour behind it. Mountain Man Landscapes works those hours: plowing driveways and lots, shoveling the paths people actually use, spreading ice melt on the steps that freeze first and thaw last. There is a particular satisfaction in a residential street at one in the morning, blade down, the berm pulled clean off the apron so a car can leave at six without a fight. Winter here is a wind event as much as a snow event, and drifts refill what was already opened, so the round comes again. The job is finished when the ground is bare.
