March is the heavy month here. Storms come in wet and slow, load the cottonwoods until limbs crack, and shut the county roads north of town for a morning. C & J Lawn and Concrete works those mornings, plowing driveways and clearing walks while the snow is still soft enough to move. The following week it can be sixty degrees and the same lawns want their first cut, their edges reset, the winter litter raked out of the beds. That whiplash is ordinary in Wellington, and the routine is built for it: mow, trim, blow clean — then run the whole list in reverse once November shows up.
