Highway 6 out of Dowd Junction, the Eagle River loud on the right, Minturn's low roofs with Battle Mountain standing over all of it — that is the other half of the neighborhood. Vail Lawncare and Landscaping mows and trims across it on August Saturdays, up in Vail one hour and down the canyon the next. Mowing, string trimming, borders cut clean along drives and walks, aeration and overseeding where sun thins the grass out, cleanups at both ends of a short season. High-country lawns are stubborn and entirely worth the trouble. Nothing sits better against these mountains than an even, well-kept patch of green.
