Bear Creek drops into the south side of town through a steep green cleft, and Telluride yards share that same character, small and vertical and wildly alive for a handful of months. San Juan Landscapes works those pockets of ground, mowing what can be mowed, hand trimming everything else, cutting edges along stone walks, weeding beds and refreshing mulch. Spring cleanup begins the week the last gritty snow finally lets go of the north-facing corners; fall cleanup ends when the aspen leaves are down, gathered and hauled away. It is fussy, hand-scale work, and that is precisely where the satisfaction lives. A trim, gathered yard at the foot of a San Juan wall repays every hour it takes.
