Old Snowmass sits where Snowmass Creek comes down to meet the Roaring Fork, with Capitol Peak holding its snow at the head of the valley well into July. The growing season here is short and blazing bright, and the grass makes the most of every week of it. Snowmass Lawn & Plant Inc works both ends of that year: mowing, edging, trimming and yard care while the valley is green, then plowing and shoveling drives, walks and entries once the cold comes back down the creek. Places on these benches above Highway 82 catch the wind and the drifting both, so clearing them well means knowing the ground under the snow.
