About Hilltop Mountain Services

Snow in these hills does not so much fall as pile against the west side of everything — fences, garages, the uphill lip of a driveway — and it does most of that after dark. So a lot of our nights start at two in the morning, headlights on the ridge, plowing drives and clearing turnarounds on the high lots above Roxborough Park while the storm is still going. We shovel the walks and steps by hand where a blade has no business, and we treat the shaded stretches that stay glazed long after the sun comes over the hogback. Wind up here scours one side of a lane and loads the other, so we come back and cut it clean rather than leave a ridge for it to build on. By the time the neighborhood wakes, the road out is open and the day can simply begin.
