About Pueblo Lawn Cop Inc.

There is a route to it, the way there is a route to any beat: the same blocks, the same week, the same eye for what is out of place. Pueblo Lawn Cop Inc. runs that circuit through Bessemer's tight-packed yards and the streets that grew up in the shadow of the mill, mowing, edging and trimming from spring into fall, then plowing drives and clearing walks when winter takes its turn. Steel-town lots are small and particular — a strip beside the porch, a patch behind the garage, an alley apron — and they reward somebody who notices. In February that same attention goes into the shovel work along a walk where an old gate still has to swing. Nothing dramatic ever happens on the route. That is precisely the point.
