By October the cottonwoods along the Cherry Creek Trail let go all at once, and half of Parker wakes up to a yard it did not have the night before. The Yard Guyz LLC show up for exactly that — leaf cleanup, a last low cut, aeration and a fall feeding so the roots go into winter with something stored. Earlier in the year it is the weekly rhythm instead: mowing, string-trimming the fence lines, edging the walks so the sidewalk shows its full width. Parker light goes long and gold around five o'clock in autumn, and there is a particular pleasure in leaving a raked lawn standing under it. Lawn care, plainly and repeatedly done, for Parker and the neighbors just past its edges.
