About Stacy Scapes

West of town the twin spires of Chimney Rock hold the last of the evening light long after the valley has gone blue. Stacy Scapes works toward that hour around Pagosa Springs — mowing, trimming and clearing up so a place looks its calmest right as the day softens. Up here the soil is thin and frost comes both early and late, so a green lawn is something built rather than something found. A straight line along a driveway, a clean border at the beds: small decisions that make the whole yard read at a glance. Then the light goes copper on the rock and the mower goes quiet.
