Middle Boulder Creek runs loud through Nederland in late May, and for a few weeks the whole town sounds like water. That is when Meyers Services opens the season — spring cleanups, raking out the winter's litter, the first mow of yards that have been under snow since November. Through the summer it is steady mowing, string trimming and edging, and in October the leaves and needles come off before the ground locks up. Mountain lawns are small and hard-won, which makes a well-kept one stand out on its street. Watching one come back green after a long winter is a fair reason to like this job.
