In late September the aspen bands on the runs above Mountain Village go the color of struck brass, and the light turns thin and clear. Landscapes by Lance, LLC works that season out — mowing, trimming, edging, and the fall cleanup that pulls leaves and needles off lawns before the first storms bury them. Up here the ground freezes early, so the closing pass has to be thorough the first time. Come June the same lawns get opened back up, raked out and cut into shape for a short high-country summer. Between those two bookends it is unhurried maintenance and yards that look like someone is paying attention.
