October in Meridian arrives on a south wind, and the young cottonwoods and honeylocusts let go of everything at once. Dean's Yard Care spends the season at the far end of a rake and a mower deck — final cuts, leaf clearing, cleanups, edges reset before the ground stiffens. Yards look their most honest in fall, when the grass is short and every line shows, which is a good reason to get them right. The rest of the year it's the regular circuit: mow, trim, edge, haul away. Meridian and the neighborhoods that spill toward Parker and Englewood are where the season gets spent.
