When the wind swings north over Limon in January, snow does not so much fall as travel — sideways, low, filling in every drive it passes. Shake and Bake Rolloffs runs snow removal through those nights, plowing drives and lots, cutting back the drifts that rebuild behind you, breaking up hardpack and treating the walks. East of town the turbines blink red through the blowing snow, and the roads stay shut until somebody opens them. Getting a lot cleared before the first vehicle of the morning shows up is its own kind of reward. Limon and out toward Genoa, Hugo and Deer Trail.
