Dashner's Tree Trimming

About Dashner's Tree Trimming

Lamar knows wind the way other towns know rain. It crosses Prowers County all day with nothing at all in the way, and the cottonwoods down in the Big Timbers along the Arkansas have grown into it, leaning and thick-trunked and tough. Dashner's Tree Trimming keeps the town's trees fit for that — taking out weak and crossing wood, pruning young shade trees so the wind trains them instead of breaking them, and removing the ones that lost the argument. When a gust drops a limb across a driveway overnight, the next day is sawing, loading and raking until the yard forgets it happened. The late train comes through and the elms hold still for a minute, and that is about as much stillness as this country offers.
