Idledale is a handful of houses in the crease of Bear Creek Canyon, where Highway 74 bends with the water and the sun only visits a given yard for part of the day. Luxescapes, LLC works those dappled, slanted lots — mowing what grass the canyon allows, edging along stone and drive, trimming beneath the cottonwoods, fertilizing shaded ground, aerating, and clearing leaf and needle fall in spring and fall. Creekside soil grows moss as readily as turf, so the job begins with reading each yard's own light before touching anything. Done well, a canyon lawn looks like it simply happened there, tucked between rock outcrop and running water. Between Morrison and Kittredge that is a rarer thing than it sounds.
