Out past the fairgrounds the hay meadows along Tomichi Creek go gold and then white, and C&R Lawn and Landscaping works the calendar in both directions. Summer means mowing, trimming and edging on the east side of Gunnison, where lawns come in thick and fast during the short weeks they're given. Come winter the same trucks push driveways and walks clear while the creek runs black beneath its ice.
