Zalinski Lawn Care

About Zalinski Lawn Care

Late afternoon, the Colorado National Monument goes the color of a struck match, and the lawns on the Redlands side of Grand Junction take up that low copper light. This is the hour Zalinski Lawn Care likes best for the work — mowing, string-trimming, and edging a walk until the seam between grass and concrete is one unbroken line. Up on Orchard Mesa the evening wind lifts and carries the smell of cut grass three blocks down the street, which is about as much of a signature as a lawn crew ever gets. Come October the rakes come out for the leaf haul and the final cut of the year, and by then the yards have been kept so steadily that the turn of the calendar barely shows. A tidy yard is a small kindness a house does for its street — that is the idea, block by block across the valley.
