Three in the morning along North Avenue, the sodium lights are the only warmth in town and every lot is a blank white sheet waiting on somebody. Budget Plowing runs those hours — blade down, windrows pushed to the far corner, aprons and walks opened so the first car of the day rolls in like nothing ever fell. Snow in Grand Junction can sit for a week or vanish by noon, and either way it wants moving before it gets driven into ice. The satisfaction is unglamorous and total: an empty, clean expanse of asphalt at dawn, and nobody who uses it later ever thinking about it. That's the job done right.
