Duke’s Landscape Company

About Duke’s Landscape Company

Four in the morning on Washington Avenue, the arch lit above an empty street, a blade pushing the night's snow into a neat windrow before the storefronts wake. Duke's Landscape Company works that hour in winter and the green hours the rest of the year — mowing, trimming, edging and cleanups, then plowing, shoveling and opening walks once the weather turns. Golden's storms come fast and leave fast, and the whole art is being there in the narrow middle. A cleared drive at daybreak is a small gift to somebody who has to be somewhere. Golden, Applewood and the neighborhoods sloping toward Lakewood are the territory.
