Snow in the Grand Valley usually arrives overnight, and by three in the morning the lots along Highway 6 & 50 are white and silent and nobody has touched them. Specialized Recovery Services works that window — plowing parking lots, pushing drives open, shoveling walkways and putting down ice control before the first shift and the first customer show up. Nothing about it is comfortable: the cab is cold, the wipers ice over, and the pass of the blade has to be right the first time. But there is real pride in a lot that is clear and treated at daylight, with the piles stacked where they block nothing. By the time Fruita is awake, the storm looks like it happened somewhere else.
