April here cannot make up its mind: eight inches of heavy wet snow on Tuesday, warm bare grass by Thursday afternoon. Ismael Moncada's Custom Landscaping opens the season in that thaw, walking the postwar blocks of Four Square Mile where no two quarter-acre lots sit quite the same. Corner lots with a long run of curb, a narrow strip beside the drive, the patch under an old Siberian elm where grass never fully agreed to grow. Each gets its own plan: cutting height set for the yard it belongs to, edging along the walks, trimming the awkward corners, overseeding wherever winter took a bite, then feeding and weed control as the ground warms. By June the whole street tells you which houses got the attention.
