Sullivan's Snow Service

About Sullivan's Snow Service

The December sun is gone early, and storms have a habit of arriving right behind it on a wind that hisses through the trees. Sullivan's Snow Service starts about then. Through the evening and the small hours the routes run — driveways, turnarounds, the wide aprons in front of garage doors — so nobody needs a running start in the morning. Some customers want the drive open and the walk clear when their headlights swing in on a Friday night, and it is a fine feeling to have already been there. The road gets plowed on its own schedule; the ridge it throws across the end of a driveway does not. Clearing that ridge, over and over all winter, is much of what this work amounts to.
