Alpine Tree Service, Estes Park

About Alpine Tree Service, Estes Park

In late September the elk come down into Estes Park and bugle in the meadows along Fall River, and suddenly every yard in town has an audience. Alpine Tree Service, Estes Park spends the fall thinning ponderosa and lodgepole back from cabins, pruning what has grown over a roof, and removing the standing dead that a mountain lot always seems to collect. The work happens on granite slopes and switchbacked driveways, where a tree gets lowered on a line because there is nowhere for it to fall. Winter arrives on a hard downslope wind, and the mornings after are for cutting limbs off cars and opening the road in so people can get down the hill. A mountain place looked after well feels open and settled at once — wild at the edges, in order where it counts.
