Everything green in the Eagle valley is on loan from snowmelt, and the loan comes due every July. American Lawn Care & Irrigation works that arithmetic — systems opened and pressured up in spring, heads adjusted so water lands on grass instead of sidewalk, zones checked one by one, and the whole works blown out before the first hard freeze locks the lines. In between there is mowing on a steady cycle, trimming, and cleanups at both ends of the year. The ditches here run full and loud in June and thin down to a trickle by late August, and lawns in town follow the same story unless somebody is watching the water. Coaxing a green yard out of a sagebrush bench is mostly patience and good aim.
