Scott's Pro-Lawn

About Scott's Pro-Lawn

Up on the mesa where the college sits, the wind comes across open ground and the whole valley opens below — the La Platas to the west, the town tucked into its fold. Scott's Pro-Lawn cuts lawns up on that rim and down in the neighborhoods beneath it: mowing on a set schedule, trimming around fences and tree rings, edging until the boundary between grass and concrete is one unbroken line. Midday in early June the light is flat and bright and every blade stands straight up, which is exactly when a well-cut lawn shows what it is. Cleanups bookend the season, carrying off the leaves in October and the winter's leftovers in April. Nothing complicated — just a yard that looks the way its owner pictured it.
