5280 LAWN CARE

About 5280 LAWN CARE

On the west steps of the Colorado State Capitol, one step bears an engraving that marks a mile above sea level, and 5280 LAWN CARE carries that number in its name. Denver grass leads a demanding life at that altitude: strong sun, thin air, and summers that swing from bright heat to sudden afternoon showers. The work is lawn care across the city, cutting grass to an even height and trimming it back from walks and beds so it looks sharp from the sidewalk. A just-mown front lawn on a June morning, clippings blown off the walk, the edge along the curb drawn straight as a survey line: that is a result to be proud of. Glance up from a finished yard and the Front Range is waiting on the horizon, blue and patient.
