Mountain Tree Scapes

About Mountain Tree Scapes

Out past the last houses of Crested Butte, Coal Creek slips along muffled under a lid of ice while the aspens on the hillsides stand bare and silver. Winter weather tends to arrive from the west here, a gray curtain lowering over the Ruby Range before the first flakes reach town. Mountain Tree Scapes meets that weather with snow removal, opening driveways and walks so a mountain home stays connected to the street. The satisfaction is in the lines: a straight cut through a drift, a clean apron where the drive meets the road, a step that is solid under a boot. By late afternoon, as Whetstone Mountain blushes pink across the valley, the paths lie open for the evening.
