The Dolores River comes down out of the high country north of Cortez, cold and quick, and the ground along it feels winter before the valley floor does. H & S Tree Care works both sides of that year, mowing, trimming and edging lawns through the growing months, keeping turf fed and weeds in check, then turning to plow and shovel once the storms find the town. Drives get opened, walkways scraped and treated, and the ice that gathers on the shaded north face of a house gets broken up before it decides to stay. Spring cleanup follows the melt, fall cleanup clears the leaves ahead of the first real snow. Two kinds of work, measured the same way: whether the place looks and moves the way it should.
