Stand at the west end of a Commerce City street on a clear October evening and the whole Front Range stacks up pink at the end of it, Longs Peak off to the north already gone white weeks before anything lands down here on the flats. Switchback Colorado Landscape & Sprinkler works the turn between those two conditions. While the grass is still growing there's mowing, trimming and edging on a set schedule; once the first real storm crosses the divide it's plowing, clearing walks and treating ice so a driveway is open before anyone needs it. A mile-high, semi-arid town asks a lot of a lawn and rather more of a driveway, and both jobs come down to showing up at the right hour. The mountains give plenty of warning — the trick is being ready when the warning turns into weather.
