Colorado saves some of its heaviest snow for April, when the crabapples are already in bud and nobody is remotely ready. Out around Prairie Gateway that storm rolls in wet and gray and lays down inches an hour, and LMI COLORADO goes back to work in a month most places have started calling spring. Plowing lots and drives, shoveling walks that are slush at noon and ice by six, spreading melt along the north sides where the sun never quite reaches. It's the strangest snow of the year — half of it gone by the next afternoon, all of it a problem while it's here. Clear it now, and the crocuses come up underneath, entirely unbothered.
