Timberline One

About Timberline One

At night, in a storm, the ponderosas above Palmer Lake stop being trees and become sound — a low steady rush that tells you how hard it is blowing before you open the door. Timberline One goes out into that, opening drives and lots through the dark so morning finds the town navigable. This high on the Divide the snow is dry and it travels, which makes the job as much about where it gets put as where it gets taken from. Nothing beats coming back down at sunrise past a line of driveways you cleared, each one holding its own clean rectangle of pavement. The work covers Palmer Lake, Monument, Woodmoor and the wooded lots out toward Black Forest.
