February on the north side of Colorado Springs is a landscape of cul-de-sacs, and every one of them is a puzzle: where does the snow go when the street has no through end? Steppler's Landscaping & Snow works those loops with the blade angled to keep the circle open and the piles off the hydrants and driveway aprons. Each home gets its drive cut clean to the pavement and its front walk shoveled wide enough for two people. On the exposed rises up toward the Academy the wind rebuilds a drift within the hour, so the route sometimes runs twice. Whatever the sky is doing, the pavement underneath ends up bare.
