About Organically Grown

Spring arrives late and all at once in Colorado Springs — the scrub oak on the Palmer Park ridges stays grey until it doesn't, and then the lawns below follow within a fortnight. Organically Grown meets that turn with the first cut of the year, clearing winter's grit and broken twigs before the mower ever runs. After that it is the steady work: mowing to a height the high-altitude sun cannot scorch, edging the drive, trimming the borders clean. Grass grown at this elevation asks for a lighter hand and a longer blade, and the yards show it. By June a lawn kept this way holds its color right through the dry, glaring middle of the day.
