A Green Image

About A Green Image

Snow arrives in Colorado Springs sideways more often than straight down, and the scrub oak on the Palmer Park mesa holds it in stubborn drifts long after the sky has gone blue again. A Green Image works the Templeton Gap side of town in that hour when the streetlights still hum orange, plowing driveways down to pavement and cutting walkways wide enough for two people to pass. Ice gets treated where the shade of a garage keeps it honest, because in this city the melt-and-freeze is the real hazard, not the storm itself. There is a particular pleasure in a drive that is clean before the coffee is poured — edges square, apron scraped, the pile pushed somewhere it will not slide back. That is the whole of it: snow work for homes and small lots across the Springs, finished while the mountain is still a silhouette.
