Downtown Colorado Springs at midnight in a storm is nearly silent — Tejon Street empty, the traffic signals swinging on their wires, the mountain gone entirely behind the weather. Cinderella Enterprises Inc. keeps those hours, plowing lots and drives, clearing walks and entries, spreading ice melt at the doors so that the first arrivals of the morning never once think about it. Snow gets stacked where it will not block a sightline or a parking row, and the passes keep coming for as long as the sky keeps giving. By the time light comes up gray over the plains, the pavement is dark and wet and the shovels are back in the truck. The best version of this work leaves no evidence at all, except a place that simply opens.
